School News ~ October 28, 2022

Friday, October 28, 2022

Hello Sidney Families,

We enjoyed a full week of learning at Sidney Elementary this week. This morning, Science World visited our school and presented to our K-2 group first and then the grades 3-5. They set off bottle rockets, experimented with flight and even made water disappear. The students really enjoyed this amazing presentation. Be sure to ask your child about what they learned! A big thank you to Science World for coming to our school free of charge.

A few updates for you:

Halloween: Halloween is on Monday! A few reminders about Halloween at school. Staff and students can choose to wear costumes on Monday, October 31.

Students can wear a costume, wear orange and black, or just their regular clothes. There is no pressure for your child to come to school with a costume.

Costumes need to be elementary school appropriate. Nothing gruesome or scary, no masks and no weapons. We will also have a Pumpkin Run around the school before lunch time, so please make sure that costumes allow students to move and be active.

We are a Healthy School, so we respectfully request that all Halloween Candy is kept at home to enjoy as a treat.

This is optional and students should plan to take their pumpkins with them at the end of the day to enjoy at home.

Student and Family Affordability Fund: All families should have received an email with a link to a survey to access this fund. The survey is still open to families if you missed the original email. Here is the link https://saanichschools.ca/form/student-and-family-affordability

Lost and Found: The lost and found has been laid out in the front foyer. Please come and take a look through it. It will be on display until Friday, November 4.

SISP Homestay: See information on the next page about becoming a host family for the Saanich International Student Program.

Have a wonderful weekend!
